Security Review

A Review of the implementation and usage of the access control software will determine, to the level of detail and assurance that you require, whether the security product protecting your IBM mainframe (OS390 or z/OS) based systems is providing the level of protection that you, and/or your management, intended. As national and international regulation of businesses increases it is becoming an absolute necessity to maintain and demonstrate a higher level of protection than previously.
 

System Integrity Review

A detailed technical analysis of the state of an IBM mainframe based system to determine whether the operating system (OS390 or z/OS) functions and other systems support products installed on it are set up to fully support your access control (security) system, or undermine it.

Education and Training

Trained staff provide a better long-term level of cost-effective security in am organisations computer systems than reliance on purely technical controls.
Effective Internal Auditing can reveal problems more cost effectively and in a more timely manner than an occasional review by External Audit or a consultant.
With thirty years IT training experience and over twenty-five years in the mainframe security and audit field, we can probably provide the individual training you need.

Support

Sometimes the resources to carry out some necessary technical or maintenance work in the security area is not available internally. Be it a few days to cover holidays or sickness, a special project, writing an interface to a third-part product or occasional longer term support, perhaps we can help.

Documentation

International compliance and Audit requirements now demand full documentation of security procedures and associated controls. Constructing such documentation is not a simple process and is rarely a task appropriate for the systems technicians or security administration staff.  Professional documentation writers rarely have the background technical or security experience to fully understand this complex area. Cronos Consulting has both the technical background and security knowledge to produce these documents.

Performance

Traditionally the IT Audit function has focussed attention on matters related to controls, essentially being interested in the prevention of financial damage or loss to the organisation.  Over the last few years there has been a shift in focus towards general governance and stewardship.  This newer approach brings efficiency of use of the technology in the I.T. organisation within the attention of the auditor.
Inefficiencies in the system, whether faulty coding or incorrect setup of system functions or even hardware can cost an organisation significant amounts.  The technical analysis of performance and bottlenecks in a mainframe environment is highly specialised.
